Schindler is pleased to announce that a total of 125 projects have met the formal criteria for admission into the 2007/2008 competition. 567 students completed their projects by the deadline of August 1. Ten finalists will be chosen by a professional jury on September 13, 2008. Please find attached a list with all the entry numbers of students who submitted a project:

Of the 125 projects, 39 were submitted by teams representing schools of architecture in Europe. These were chosen from 244 projects in a pre-selection process, organized by the schools themselves. The 39 projects which were deemed best are to be entered directly into the final judging round.

The other 86 projects were submitted independently by architecture students, working as individuals or in teams of two or three. These projects will be assessed by the Schindler Award jury in the week of September 8, and the best put forward for the final judging round on September 13, when the ten finalists will be chosen.

"The participation of the schools is particularly encouraging," said Cathérine Voltz, Manager of the Schindler Award. "Because the intention of the Schindler Award is to motivate schools of architecture to integrate the topic of accessibility into their curricula. We are also delighted that so many students finished their projects by the deadline."

The students behind the nominated projects will be contacted by Schindler shortly after the jury decision, and their names and project information will be published on this website by September 19, 2008.

Five winners will be chosen from the ten finalists, and the winners will be announced at a special Award Ceremony on November 14, 2008 at the Culture and Convention Centre in Lucerne, Switzerland. All students and professors who participated in the Schindler Award 2007/2008 are most welcome to attend the Award Ceremony. Please send an e-mail to catherine.voltz@ch.schindler.com, if you would like to participate.
