Article 4
Is it possible to enter the competition without the support of my teacher or institution? We are 4 teams of 2 or 3 students from the same university. We are wondering how to fill the registration form? We are more than twelve students. Do we have to organise our own pre-selection?
Our project was not selected by our school for entry into the competition finals. Is it possible to submit our project individually to the pre-selection by the jury? Article 7 I wonder if it is possible to get an active file, for example a DWG, which will be the copy of award_site_overview.pdf from the web page. Now I have only a DWG file with the shape of the ground of the perimeter, without any layers involving existing buildings, metro lines and so one.
Could you send us please the plan of the site in a more extended view, in order to have a complete image of our area inside the city? Article 7 + 8
Is there a website or link for Geodata from where a 3 D model of the City can be downloaded? Article 9 Is the competition documentation available in German?
Article 13 I work in a group together with another student. Are we supposed to put both entry numbers on all the tender documents? Article 14 Since the date of delivery is August 01, can I hand it in on to the post office on that day?
We are 37 students and we plan your own pre-selection. How many projects can we submit in the final? When should we send the list of groups of students working together? Do we have a deadline for that? We have all the information, schedules, participants, etc. available online. I'd like to ask you if the information online is enough. If it is not enough, how long do we have to send you more detailed information? We already sent the list with all the participants in the applying process, in which they got their entry number. Should I send the list again? Or is the list available online good enough? I understand we have to send a brief description (graphic and text) of each project, even the non-selected projects, as well a brief description of the lectures. We have the schedule and photographic information of all the phases of the course, and a PowerPoint presentation in Spanish. “Entries pre-selected by the schools must include proof of the pre-selection process as stipulated in article 5”. What does a proof mean? Some projects are done by teams of 2-3 people. Should they send you all the entry numbers of all the team's members or pick just one as a "representant" of the team? We have three selected projects, are we allowed sending them in a single package? May we add the documentation about the course and the non-selected projects to the project panels so that we make a unique big package with the three projects and the "professors-report"? Article 4
Is it possible to enter the competition without the support of my teacher or institution?
No, we only accept applications from students whose teachers/institutions support their participation. One reason is because participants need support and assistance from their schools, if they are to master the challenging competition task. Also, the primary aim of the Schindler Award is to encourage schools to include the concept of "Access for All" in their curricula, or at least to sensitise them to the topic of "Access for All". We are 4 teams of 2 or 3 students from the same university. We are wondering how to fill the registration form? Just fill in the form by using each line. If there are more than twelve names, continue on the next form. For the application, you don’t have to indicate how many project groups there are, you don’t have to indicate how many students there are to each project. We are one of the pre-selected groups from our school. How do we pass that information on to the jury? The school has to send in a list with the names of all the students from whom the winning entry / entries was / were selected. Please check document 1_1_1 rules § 4, 5, 14. Article 5
We are more than twelve students. Do we have to organise our own pre-selection?
It is up to you or your school to decide: Do you go for the school and student prize with pre-selection by the school (you can send in one project for each group of twelve; see 1_1_1 Rules § 4 – 5) or do you go for the student prize only and send the projects as individual projects (which then have to pass pre-selection by the jury; see 1_1_1 Rules § 6). Our project was not selected by our school for entry into the competition finals. Is it possible to submit our project individually to the pre-selection by the jury? In order to take part in the competition for the school award, your school must meet the criteria specified in the competition rules. One of these criteria is the pre-selection process which must be documented by the school by submitting a list of all projects and students' names participating in the internal selection process of said school. Projects and students having been eliminated in such selection process may not take part individually in the Schindler Award thereafter. Article 7
I wonder if it is possible to get an active file, for example a DWG, which will be the copy of award_site_overview.pdf from the web page. Now I have only a DWG file with the shape of the ground of the perimeter, without any layers involving existing buildings, metro lines and so one.
The dxf files on the competition DVD you received contain all the information you asked for. Sometimes, the settings of the colour codes of different CAD software interfere with each other. Check the different settings of your CAD and especially check if the settings for all layers are on “visible” (or how ever this setting is called in your software). Could you send us please the plan of the site in a more extended view, in order to have a complete image of our area inside the city? We are sorry, but plans other than the ones contained on your DVD are not available. Article 7 + 8
Is there a website or link for Geodata from where a 3 D model of the City can be downloaded?
We are sorry, but all the available data for the competition (Geodata or other) is contained on the DVD you have received. Article 9
Is the competition documentation available in German?
No, the competition language is English, and all documents, correspondence and the website are exclusively in that language. Article 13
I work in a group together with another student. Are we supposed to put both entry numbers on all the tender documents?
Yes. Please check document 1_1_1 rules §13. Article 14
Since the date of delivery is August 01, can I hand it in on to the post office on that day?
Yes. We are 37 students and we plan your own pre-selection. How many projects can we submit in the final? Take the total number of participants from your school, divide by twelve = number of projects to be sent to us. For the remaining fraction you may send in an additional project (Example: 37 students: 3*12 + 1 = 4 projects) When should we send the list of groups of students working together? Do we have a deadline for that? You must send us the list together with your project. We have all the information, schedules, participants, etc. available online. I'd like to ask you if the information online is enough. If it is not enough, how long do we have to send you more detailed information? Since we expect a large number of entries, we would like to have a short printout of the scope and topics of the workshops / lectures. Please hand in the documentation together with the projects you will send us. We have not enough resources to do research on all the entries. (cp. also Article 5) We already sent the list with all the participants in the applying process, in which they got their entry number. Should I send the list again? Or is the list available online good enough? The list of the applications is not enough, since there may be some dropouts. During the competitions in Brussels and Paris, approximately 50% of the applicants dropped out without a project done…(cp. also Article 5) I understand we have to send a brief description (graphic and text) of each project, even the non-selected projects, as well a brief description of the lectures. We have the schedule and photographic information of all the phases of the course, and a PowerPoint presentation in Spanish. A printout of the PowerPoint you mention would be OK, even with drawings in Spanish... There is no limit for the description of the projects, but keep them short, since we expect a large number of entries. We propose 1 sheet format A4 per project, the short text and a typical drawing included. (cp. also Article 5) “Entries pre-selected by the schools must include proof of the pre-selection process as stipulated in article 5”. What does a proof mean? That you hand in the list of names of all participants and a descriptive of their projects. (cp. also Article 5) Some projects are done by teams of 2-3 people. Should they send you all the entry numbers of all the team's members or pick just one as a "representant" of the team? The entry numbers of all the students on the team go onto all the panels! (cp. also 2_3_1 Tender Documents § 3.2) We have three selected projects, are we allowed sending them in a single package? Yes, one big package will do. May we add the documentation about the course and the non-selected projects to the project panels so that we make a unique big package with the three projects and the "professors-report"? Yes, you can add the "professor report" (as you call it) with proof of the pre selection process etc to the same package. One single "professor report" will do for all the different projects you'll send. (cp. also Article 5) |
