"All Together" – A Multifunctional Slope

A distinctive ramp structure extends down from its highest point in the northeast along the perimeter of the site to the River Park. A simple multifunctional building integrates all the functions within one structural frame.

The Idea
The notion underpinning this project is to integrate a vertical “border” of high-density working and living functions with a horizontal stretch of natural environment. While the high-rise buildings block the traffic to the north, the recreational areas in the south contain a series experiential moments within an elaborate system of spaces, passages, and lanes all embedded in green natural environs.

The Project
Buildings of different heights, reaching up to 12 floors, are positioned with breaks and bends along the northern border. The north-facing side of each building contains offices, while the south-facing side of the same building contains the apartments. Public and commercial buildings are connected to both outside traffic and inside green. The renaturalization of the river Wien will make a true “River Park”.

The Jury Assessment
The project is characterized by a complex juxtaposition of various functions and forms. What is special about it are the inherent architectural qualities that make ramps and stairs redundant and also the efficient way that it achieves good connectivity to the neighboring quarters. The well-thought-out green recreation area provides a stimulating oasis for everyone.
